Does anyone know where I can get the YL extension to my CELTA apart from Brighton? Surely there must be more than one centre in the UK that provides the 2 week YL extension course?!

What is a YL extension and why do you need it? If you don't mind me asking.

Sorry for the late reply...
It's the Young Learners extension to the CELTA certificate... so that you can teach little brats... er.... children...!

There are very few places where you actually need a CELTA or any other kind of English teaching certificate. If you have bachelors, 9 times out of 10 it is enough to fulfill the visa requirement.
The best credentials for teaching young people, if that is what you choose to do, is to have experience teaching them. There are many ways you can do this if you don't have the experience from volunteering to lower paying jobs with children that many times are "no experience necessary."
Having filled the visa requirements, if you want to get into the EFL field with children, working with kids in any subject or setting would boost your credentials impressively over someone with no experience.

) already spent the money and done the CELTA (hence the question about the extension).
Hmm, myself, I approach kids with some trepidation...I get along with most of them fine, but I wouldn't ever be opposed to having a (real) expert clue me in a bit more on the brats' I mean little darlings' psychology, developmental stages (in grammar, reading ability etc etc), the (real) position of English (EFL) in especially state elementary schools in their country etc...not sure if the YL extension actually will deliver (on) all those things, though (not even sure what its general content includes). Maybe substance can tell us all about it once she's found (if she ever finds!) a more convenient training centre and has coughed up the necessary suitcase full of dosh!

BTW... I'm male... and yes, I have a CELTA and have just finished my masters in Applied Linguistics (TEFL) - I just thought the YL extension may widen job oppurtunities for me... maybe not!

Sorry about that, MR substance! Don't know where I got the idea you were female from...probably subconsciously imagined that anyone really really wanting (you seem keen LOL) to do a YL extension would likely be a gal...and/or maybe my mind just wanted a bit of variety from saying 'substance'?
