Preparing to teach Elementary school abroad

Post by EBerman » Fri Jun 27, 2003 10:29 pm

Hi,

I am about to go to the Marshall Islands for a year to teach elementary school. One of the main, although not the only, subjects that I will be teaching is English. The island I am going to be on is rather limited in supplies, so I am trying to send some supplies out. Does anyone have any ideas as to what supplies might be helpful for a year teaching ESL?

Thanks
EBerman

To teach ESL students you will need the same supplies as the regular classroom. You can work with your vocabulary development with things around your classroom. To teach ESL you don't need sofisticated equipment. Good luck!

Hi,
You will definately need many books for your kids age and grade levels. Basically like Blanca said, you will need items like in a regular classroom. Just remember books are going to be very important, and I would also believe lots of environmental print will be necessary also. I hope this information helps.
