Dolch words

I'm not familiar with what we call "phonics" and have just begun to read about it. I came across the Dolch words in the internet and saw that they're primarily addressed to native speakers of English. How can they be of use in the EFL classroom? My pupils know just a few words at the age of 8 and soon or said are not among them. Boggle's world has a list of flashcards, which looks interesting but does not include words my kids know; or, anyway, words included in their coursebooks. I don't want to make things more complicated for them by introducing a new element I do not know how to handle.

Liana - I have some info about Dolch sight words that includes the full list and also what I did with the list for my EFL young learners.

Phonics can be very helpful and the sight words do play a role. Take a look at that and if you have any questions let me know.

I hope that helps.
