Hello,

I am a future elementary school teacher completing my teaching credentials at California State University of Fullerton. I am interested communicating with any elementary school teachers who have experience and strategies that they could share regarding teaching in a multicultural classroom. I would prefer that this person is from a different state or country than mine. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

One thing you could do is find stories from another culture, especially one that is represented in your class. With a first grade group I spent time in for inclusion, I read a book about Dia de los Muertos around Halloween. I also had a special activity for my reading group on May 5th for Cinco de mayo. As you can maybe tell from these examples, I only have Mexican immigrants in my current position. I think that anything that will make everyone feel accepted would help. Just don't focus on one culture if there are five or six represented.
