1st Job, Please Help!!!

Post by Ria » Sun Apr 23, 2006 7:09 am

I am a newly qualified TEFL teacher on day 4 of 1st ever teaching job in huge school in Southern Thailand. Can't seem to remember anything from my training and have limited resources.
How do i get the students talking?
Teaching 30 twelve year olds who have never had a foreign teacher before.
I thought the job would be enjoyable but am in living hell staying up all night trying to think of things for the students to do!!!
Please help: any information, advice and ideas would be hugely appreciated! I think the heat has fried my brain!
Thankyou xxx

I hope while you are waiting for an answer to your current question, you will browse these forums looking at other threads. There have been many made in the past that have good suggestions for your situation. You can especially look for those by Sally Olsen. (I am one of her many fans.) ;)

When you first stand on the stage, it's important to make yourself culm down. Because even you are a new teacher, they have been the students for many years. They can see the weakpoints of your teaching quickly. So to be mature enough in front of the class. :D
