English for Debating/Debating Skills

Me again!
Starting a new mini course tonight teaching faculty members at a University. Feel totally in over my head as I've never been in a debate in my life (unless you count down the pub after lectures at University). I have a textbook (Discover Debate) but the course is 10 x one hour lessons over 10 weeks so I need to be very selective about what I teach with so little time. To add to this the levels of the students are from elementary to upper-int, and from various strata of the University faculty (lowly office worker to University president!) Any hints or tips? I'm bricking it.
