I am currently helping out at an international college in ghana. at the moment i am meeting 8 students the majority of which are working towards their IGCSE (they are 16). i am kind of stuck as to how to go about my lessons with them. i see them all individually and at the moment, we chat, discuss and look at the work i set the last time and then i explain and set some more work. the work i set them is some comprehension, some writing exercises (eg. summaries), poetry and literature analyses and some simple grammar practice stuff.
i worry that this might not be beneficial to them over the long term as they may not be taking on baprd the help i am giving. i can see the advantages of the time i spend with them, as some of them just need some guidance and structure to their work.
i was wondering if anyone here has been in a similar situation and what sort of activities and methods they have used. i will be working with them until the end of their academic year in june so i really wanna make a difference, especially those taking exams.
any help would be much appreciated and i will gladly answer any questions cos i am sure i have left out some vital details.
