One way is to give the students the question parts for 10 jokes on a worksheet.

The answer parts are all pinned up around the walls of the classroom.

Students can mingle around the room, reading the answers and trying to match them to the questions to make complete jokes.

When I do this, I usually use fairly simple jokes that play with English, such as puns ... these are the kind of jokes that lower level students can enjoy.

example:

Q: Why will you never be hungry at the beach?
A: Because of all the sand which is (sandwiches) there!

If you want more Q & A jokes, let me know. I've got more than 200.

For longer 'anecdote' jokes, I sometimes do them as a dictogloss or an ordering story pictures activity.

I definitely think jokes are a good idea - for all levels and ages. Everyone loves a good joke, and many people like a bad joke too.

Cheers

Brian

Hi Anood

Much as I'd love to sit here and type out 200 jokes for you, I'm way too busy!

Here are some more Q&A jokes/riddles that I find ok to use with lower level students ...

What do you call a dead bee?
A was.

Why was six scared of seven?
Because seven eight nine.

Why didn't the skeleton go to the party?
He had no body to go with.

What English word starts with 'E', ends with 'E' and only has one letter in it?
Envelope.

What's orange and sounds like a parrot?
A carrot.

How do you catch a unique rabbit?
Unique up on it.

Where can you find giant snails?
On the end of giant's fingers.

Hope that's ok for starters. I put a new joke on my website every day. Here's the link:
