learner types

For learner types, 2 more influential models are:

Willing, who uses the terms concrete learners, analytical learners, communicative learners and authority orientated learners-

and McCarthy, who has divergers, assimilators, convergers and accomodators.

Willing suggests splitting classes up along such lines, I'm not entirely opposed to that. But there seems to be a feeling around that teachers have a duty to diagnose which learners they have, and react accordingly in their lesson plan. (I think this is really big in British high schools). Since we first have to select which model to use, classes are normally in flux, and individual students change shape according to class and teacher, I find it all a bit pie in the sky.
