hello everyone! i usually post in the job discussion forum, but i know this thread would be more appropriate here.
anyways, im leaving for china next tuesday to teach at an english learning camp for six and seven year olds. the camp is only 3 weeks long and i am with the kids 3 times a day for 45 minutes each. at the moment, i am finishing up my curriculum, but i still have a few roadblocks in the way. with this, i have a few questions:
1) i will be the students very first english teacher. knowing this, how much information should i throw at them? first and foremost, its a CAMP, so our emphasis is to have fun while learning the language, but just how much should i try and teach them in this short amount of time? it is even feasible to teach them the entire alphabet in 3 weeks to a point where they can retain it? or should i be focusing my time on something else?
2) i will have a translator in my class, but how much should i rely on this person? being that the kids will know ZERO english when i arrive, what will be the best way for me to explain instructions to them in class?
anything will be very helpful. thank you!!
