So my boyfriend is moving to Stuttgart and I am tagging along. I figured teaching English is probably my best option for earning any sort of living in Germany seeing as how I am not fluent in the language. I have read the forums and seen some negative comments about pay, visas, etc., but like I said, I am short on options.
Any advice anybody would like to bestow upon me? I will happily accept any tips you could give me on language centers, looking for jobs, work permits, etc. Danke!

agil1313,

I can't give you any tips on the work-finding other than: be sure to take all the documentation you've got with you. Have copies of your passport, copies of any diplomas/certifications you may have, copies of everything. These can be very important on the visa- & work-permit-getting side.

And if things go nowhere with work permission, look into getting a visa as a student. Student life is fairly cheap right now, not very demanding if you're not intersted in getting a degree, and you would then at least have a legitimate visa. You could work on the side in English-teaching, and build up some experience that might be valuable later on in ultimately getting a work permit.
