Anyone with any experiences of this? I don't know how to drive. To get a job in Mex where I was required to drive, would I need to get an international driver's licence and can this be done there? |

First of all, it seems highly unlikely to me that there would be an English teaching job in Mexico that would require a person to drive.
Once you have your working visa, you can get a Mexican driver's license which is a very straight forward process. I will tell you that both me (an American) and a colleague from the UK agree that driving in Mexico takes a lot more skills than it does in our home countries. |

I drive, but cautiously, not to new places where I have never driven before (yes, it's rather limiting). However I did teach my then teen-age daughter to drive, and with the reflexes and confidence of youth, she is much better than I.
Don't bother with an international license (which isn't really a license anyway, merely an official translation of your home country license), just get a Mexican one. In some states (such as DF), there isn't even any test or requirement to be able to drive; you just present the usual ID and pay the fee. |

Do it quickly, the PAN is advocating reintroducing the test in D.F.
Given the appalling standard of driving in Mexico, any instruction you receive or even any examiner's assessment would really be a case of the blind leading the blind! |
