Hi,
I've just started teaching a group of mixed nationaility university students a writing class and I have to teach a class next week on writing a thesis statement. I've never taught a writing class before and I'm looking for ideas on how to go about it!
Any help would be much appreciated! |

eihpos,
I'm not sure where you are based, but here in the UK at universities, the standard academic writing coursebooks used are :
"Academic Writing" by Stephen Bailey (3rd edition), published by Routledge, which takes you through all the main processes of academic writing, from writing a good paragraph up to the finished product.
"Writing Academic English" Level 4, by Oshima and Hogue, published by Pearson/Longman. Chapter 4 (From paragraph to essay) is particularly good at thesis statements.
