just wondering if there are any good placement agencies that hire for Asia as i'll be travelling with a friend. We figure this would be our best shot. Opinions? |

Depends on the country you want to work in and your credentials.
Fresh out of high school and backpacking your way around Asia, pick up work as you go.
Got a degree and willing to sign on for a year then the choices are vastly different.

Asia is a big place. Where exactly are you going, and how long in each place? Also, what are the credentials for each of you?
Japan won't require any recruiter, BTW. |

i know asia is a big place but we're really open to going anywhere really, looking for a 1 year contract. Our qualifications are different however, as i have my TESOL but no degree and my friend has a degree but with no TESOL. we're looking into everywhere, and we just applied through English First, who deal with China and Indonesia |

With a degree and no TEFL your friend can still find legal work everywhere in Asia. She meets the legal requirement for the visa and work permit.
Pick a country, apply for a job, sign a contract, get a visa and buy a plane ticket. She can be on her way in about 30 days.
With a TEFL and NO degree your options for legal work (proper visa and work permits) are currently limited to Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia and possibly some of the countries in west Asia. As of 2015 that door will also close due to the ASEAN integration rules.
There will be chances to get work in China BUT do be aware that you won't have the proper visa. The same can be said for Thailand. You will be relegated to joining the rest of the back-packers working at dodgy language academies.
If you want to stay legal and you are from the UK... go to Europe - the degree is not a legal requirement to be an English teacher.
If you want to stay legal and you are from North America then go south (from Mexico south - often a degree is not a requirement (legal or otherwise) to work as an English teacher).
