Is it true that one needs to notorize their CELTA before they can work with QP? Would a certifying statement form from University of Cambridge suffice? A notorization can take up to 8 weeks. Any feedback much appreciated[/b] |

From what I read here, the sole requirement for working with QP is a hole-in-the-head. Notarized, of course...
Being "certifiable", apparently, is a plus!
It's like a broken record! |

What a weird response to a genuine question. Probably been in the gulf too long. I hope I don't end up like that. It's scary. |

No, it's not "weird". Read up on QP.
It's got nothing but a bad reputation of how it treats it's workers! |

Hi, you need to have all relevant educational documents attested(certified) if you want a work visa as a teacher in Qatar, it's the law. Bearing in mind the high cost though (approximately 150 GBP per document for Brits), you are best to stick to the absolute minimum required for the work visa (i.e. BA+ CELTA) and not bother with any other postgrad degrees, especially unrelated ones.
Have you lost your CELTA and are talking about a replacement letter, confirming you passed the CELTA? If that's the case, it will probably suffice. The recruiter will probably have a better idea about this (as I got my actual CELTA cert attested) you should ask them. This would still need to be attested.
There's no getting around it. You'll need to spend a minimum of around 300 GBP to get a bachelor's and CELTA attested, if you are a Brit. I've heard for some nationalities, such as Aussies, it's considerably more expensive.
On the plus side, the attestation process took much less than 8 weeks. I think it was less than 1 month, in my case. |

For me, I gave my employer (tertiary level) permission to inquire at my under grad, post grad etc. for my credentials/transcripts. But my employer may be an exception - in the end it cost me nothing more than my signature agreeing to their direct inquiries. I know it's different at other institutions and for other countries.
And I don't know whether it has an influence, mine were all North American degrees at internationally recognized institutions (not necessarily immediately "recognized/known" outside that region) |

How shocking!! An employer actually confirming the validity of a degree using the one method that actually works and is either free or costs a pittance.
HCT in the UAE used this method back in the day... not sure if they have been forced to use the ridiculous "certification" process.
The "certification" method is complete farce that proves nothing, but makes each government a steady income stolen from the pockets of teachers.
