I have been trying to get info of this via the search function, but I can't find anything.

I have a bank of America Credit/debit card. Will I be able to withdraw cash from it if needed? I am waiting on a tax refund that I will need before getting my first paycheck.

I'm trying to get cash using my (American) Visa platinum credit card and have been unsuccessful. I've tried JP, 7 eleven, several convinis, and several banks. Any ideas? I had no trouble getting cash from the family mart this way in Thailand. I need the cash by Monday so I can move into my new aparment!! Thanks for your help.

Try a post office ATM or contact your Visa office.

Here's a Visa link from Glenski's link:

IIRC a friend of mine used to just go to one of the Sumitomo places and get cash from them.

It would probably be a good idea to call your credit card issuer back home - the transaction might have been flagged as suspicious and automatically denied. Also, a lot of issuers have separate balance limits for cash advances (a smaller part of your total credit line) and mine would almost certainly not be enough to move into what essentially is a tenement.

Thank you. Yeah my credit union was blocking the transaction but I got it squared away.
