Hey,
I'd like people's opinion. I'm signed up to take the TESOL course in June. I will, at the end of June be graduating high school. I'm ready to go in September, but only want to go for half a year if possible. I'd like to go to China to teach primary school or kindergarden as I will be taking the Children's course and Private Tutoring over the net during the summer. I'd also like to wind up close or in a major city in China.
What are my chances of getting a job with no experience and no degree? Needless to say I don't expect much pay. |

When I came here last August I had No Degree, No Experience, and No Qualifications. The ONLY thing I had going for me it seems was maturity.
I am coming back this school for a second year as I really love it. Mind you I only teach 10 hours per week and I only earn 3,500 yuan per month, but I could not be happier.
I think it MAY be a little harder for someone really young with No Degree etc. but as far as I can tell, there are plenty of jobs up for grabs. Just be totally honest with them from the beginning and you should have no problems.
Good luck |

If you are male, grow a moustache. If you are female, don't giggle. (Is this a sexist remark?) Feign a little maturity and you've got it made. Compared with some of my peers, you're already overqualified. |

I recommend kindergarten although Chinese ones are more like kiddie concentration camps.
For primary schools, you might be a wee bit too young. Don't enthuse over job offers from such schools - you might burn out quickly. IT's no piece of cake! |

No problem. Read the China Jobs forum archive, do your homework. There are plenty of jobs, and nobody wants to teach kindergarten (3 year olds - yuck). Give er. Keep in mind that you're unlikely to get full airfaire back for a 6-month contract. |

I teach kindergarten, and love and am getting paid well. You can get half airfare for six month contracts. |

thanks for the advice. i'm aware of the airfare situation for 6 month contracts, and have no problem teaching kindergarden, in fact it is highly prefered. i do have experience in leading classes for 5-7 year olds though. it's okay until they hit puberty, then they're little monsters.
another question. in a post for 100 teacher jobs in china, it says that china will not issue a work permit to any teacher without a bachelors degree. is this true? |

Sorry for offending the kindergarten teachers...
