I've sent in a job application to James English School in northern Japan after seeing multiple ads online last month for openings in 4 different regions. It's only been one week since I sent the application, but no acknowledgment has been received.

How long should I wait before sending a follow-up email? I don't want to seem pushy, but I do want to know if they got it. Obviously they may just not be interested, but I'd like to know that rather than just wonder. What is a suitable time to wait before sending a second email?

Thank you.

One week is way too short a time to do follow-up. Wait another 2 weeks minimum. This month is hiring season for April start dates. If they are interested, they will contact you soon. Since they have several branches, they are probably quite busy sorting things out.

I'm pretty sure James already have their candidates for their April start dates. They started up with those back in probably January. From what I was told, they put up those advertisements for future positions that may come up.

Thanks for the replies.

I wouldn't be available until late July or early August anyway. I'll wait a few more weeks and then make contact again if I haven't heard anything. Does James usually hire around specific times of the year (April, and other set months)? I'm not sure if these job ads were for future positions that may open up due to someone leaving or if they are certain to open up but don't have definite dates yet.
