What is the cheapest way to get an 1-year visa in Thailand? I have seen advertisements from visa run companies saying you can get a double entry tourist visa for 6,000 baht. This would be a two month visa that can be extended by a month for another 2,000 baht. So it sounds like this gives you 6 months for 10,000 baht (1 year, 20,000 baht).
The other choice I have seen is an education from a muay thai school that gives you a 1 year visa for about 30,000 baht in lesson fees. This looks more convenient because there are no visa runs but it is a little more expensive.
Are there better and cheaper alternatives to these methods? |

No, not unless you are old and have a pension or big bucks in the bank to get a retirement visa, marry a Thai national and get an "O" visa, apply to immigrate, or have the money to get an investors visa.
IF you are not planning to work (or teach) then perhaps a board for teachers is not the best place to be asking.
Try thaivisa or stickman.
