Haha, I was going to argue that it's 450.000vnd for a WP but I've just checked receipts from my last couple of WPs and 400.000 it is. I don't know how it got into my head it was 450.000.
My SHN (Hanoi) WP was 400.000 and my SHCM (Saigon) WP was 400.000.
Recently your job must be advertised nationally. So what was an additional 33.000 (local paper ad.) is now a whopping 600.000vnd for the school. That hikes the cost up to nearly 1m. The advantage is the residence permit though which I did pay $100 recently for three years (maybe it's just gone up)
Properly certificated can get the WP at the correct price following the correct procedures (without the steam coming out of your ears, I might add)
Illegal WPs are plentiful and easily available at around $1000 for those who are not qualified. An extra $900 will get you a residence permit.
Sorry you are having such a difficult time LAZ. I would suggest to any newcomers to have all the correct paperwork, speak to the right people and you should be okay. |

For you newbies,
Speaking with the right people is a matter of research from reliable sources or just pure luck!
I've been here a long time, MOST don't just fall into this and they get screwed more often than not. But there are exceptions.
In the beginning, I also got the short end of the stick but now my school will jump through hoops to keep me. The majority of teachers reflect the same experience as I. But there are exceptions.
If this makes you nervous about coming here, I'd say that that's wise but eventually you will learn how to make the school/system work for you, IMHO. |

Professional schools have HR Departments. These HR Departments have VN staff that DO go to all the different departments, in order to secure a work permit for their foreign teachers.
The big language schools may not be the 'best' places to work for an experienced teacher however, you will not have a problem getting a work permit. |
