I don't know about Al-Khaleej, but the majority of recruiting companies go the business visit visa route. It can be issued quickly so that new hires can be in country within a few weeks after accepting an offer. Sounds great, but this type of visa doesn't grant the holder the right to work or reside in KSA. |
I just spoke to a recruiter who told me that I would be brought to KSA on a "working visit visa" - I take it this the same as the "business visit visa"?
Which basically means you are in the KSA illegally and working there illegally?
Why would companies / recruiters have people working for them illegally (on business visit visas)?
Surely this is counter-productive because if the person residing / working in the KSA illegally is caught, then the whole recruitment process has to start all over again?
According to the recruiter I just spoke to, it is very difficult, no sounded like almost impossible, for Saudi companies to arrange proper work visas (=iqama) these days, because of Saudization - is this true?
The recruiter also mentioned that on the work visit visa, I would have to leave the country every 30 days and return - at my own expense. Are a lot of expat teachers actually doing this?
A whole lot of questions - but I would be truly grateful for some answers.

Yes, you'd be working illegally. This type of visa appeals to recruiters because it can be issued quickly to get teachers in country quicker and it costs way less than an iqama, which the recruiter would have to pay for. They may be using the Nitaqat (Saudization) program as an excuse to avoid getting iqamas.
Dump these guys. Doing visa runs every 30 days on your own dime is ridiculous. Apply for direct hire positions---most universities are advertising now. |
