Hey everyone,

I have a valid contract until May 13th,2012 and a residence permit valid until May 11th,2012.Right now I'm thinking about changing a job after my current contract is over. However,I'm a bit confused about the process.I understand that in order to change a job,I will need a release letter from my current employer. What about the residence permit? Can it cause troubles that it expires before the contract? Is anyone familiar with the process in a case like this?

Tell the FAO. They'll have to take it back to the Entry/Exit Bureau and have it changed. Once the paperwork is complete, somebody will write in the correct date on the RP. Exact same thing happened to me in '10.

This happened to me before. The PSB gave me an F visa valid for 7 days after the contract completion date. At the time I asked about the process regarding changing schools, they told me I would need to have a signed contract and release letter from the new school. As it happened, the new school screwed me around and I ended up getting a spousal visa.

may 11 is friday. may 13 is sunday.
when is your final day of teaching?

when do you plan to arrive at the new school?

once there, you need to register with the police.
then you need to get a new health certificate.
and you need to sign/seal/stamp your new contract.
then you can get your new FEC.

then you can apply for your new RP. the old RP must still be
valid. if not, you may be needing a new z visa.

My final day of teaching should be May 11th and I planned to arrive at the new place around May 15th.Seems it would cause troubles because my RP should be expired by that date,so I should make changes in my plan.

You did not notice this date discrepancy a year ago ? You've left yourself nearly a month to find a new job, get the proper documents together (you and a new employer) and get FEC'ed and RP'ed, etc. If you fall short of time, it's on you.

I've been in China 8 years and NOT ONCE has my RP matched my contract or FEC expiration dates. Police rarely issue more than 10 months on RP's and the expiration dates are based on application date, not related to other documents. It's moronic, but the way it is.

Next time, prepare in advance.

If you have a new school already, get them to renew the residence permit. If the school is in the same city then you shouldn't have too many issues.

Asking your current school for an extension might not be a good idea, most likely they will go the easiest route and that would mean applying for a 30 day L visa.

If you do ask your current school make sure they don't just get you a L visa. You don't want to be on a this kind of visa because then you might have to take a trip to HK or even worse, back to your home country to apply for a new Z visa.

Reminds me of applying for my first residence permit. There were 6 teachers at the school, we all had the same contract, all contracts ended the same day. But when we all got our residence permits, they all expired on different dates. Thankfully all of them expired after the date on the contract. I remember one teacher's residence permit expired 4 months after the contract ended. Shocked

In that case, when did he have to leave? What is the current procedure on contract ending, RP ending, and when one has to leave?

so what is exactly needed when you transfer?

A release letter and a letter of recommendation?

what about your education and TEFL? do you need to prove that all over again?

and is the procedure the same for transferring between school in different provinces?

I do apologize if this was mentioned before but I'm having trouble finding anything relevant to my question.

Thanks in advance.

Your FEC needs to be cancelled with your old school
and than established with a new school.

Typically, You will need a medical check.

You will need a release letter, but not a recommendation.

---

It's much easier than the z-visa deal and it really depends on what school and in what province your in on exact details.
