Hello - I have found that at my university, our class sizes are capped at just 20 students. It is actually nice, because it keeps the noise level down. Additionally, it is a Tier 1 school, so the students are relatively motivated. I teach all freshmen too.
I am starting to look for potential new jobs in China, as I am looking for a new atmosphere...new places, new people. My current interest lies in Fujian Province or Sichuan Province, but am open to other areas as well.
If you teach at a tier 1 school [or school with relatively motivated students] where the classes are capped at 20 students, please PM me and let me know. I would like to contact your school to inquire about potential positions. No need for your to recruit me. I can contact them on my own, and I won't use your name.
Thanks! |

Wouldn't worry about that; I think native English speakers are the most sought-after. Most native English speakers don't need to promote themselves in this fashion. |

I've never heard of a 20 student cap at a public uni or college.
Their business model in my exp is 'cram em in'. |

During the last two years I've had a maximum of eighteen students per class. Most have been around twelve per class. Prior to that I may have had as many as twenty-five, but again, most classes were twelve or less.
These weren't first tier universities. These were three-year colleges in Jiangsu. |

I think that would depend on the local requirements for the FEC.
The last few years, all my uni, college and other public school classes have been split into groups of about 20 from what would normally be a 40-50 student class.

Same here. My biggest is 16 at a low rep 3 year college. The vastly more reputable national university opposite has average conversation class sizes of 100 in each. Most of the teachers there are pulling their hair out. |

The first university I taught in was an upper mid-tier school. I taught history, writing, and argumentation. Oh, yeah, and Oral English the first semester. The oral English classes had 40 students on the roll, but 70-90 showed up for the finals.
The writing and argumentation classes had 35-40 students. That wasn't bad because they spoke very well. Teaching four and five different subjects was just too much of a load, even when the work hours were reduced to 16 hours from 20 or so. |

Hello again. In my painful search for the "perfect" school, I am having trouble finding schools that cap their classes at 20 students for Oral [reading and writing doesn't matter].
Can you please pm the name of your school if you have this feature at your school?
Thank you very much. Time is of the essence! |

Yes, 20 students... that is, about six groups of 20 students at a time. |

Average class size for us is 25 students. For some subjects, we'll have two classes together. For oral, just one. This is at a private college. |
