|
|
Hi Everyone,
I'm from Ireland and I arrived in Madrid a few days ago. One of my first tasks was to email my CV to language schools. I received replies from several schools. However, many asked if I had a NIE.
As I have just arrived, I have not yet applied. I plan to apply shortly. However, I am currently staying in temporary accommodation and somebody said that I need to put a permanent address on my NIE application.
How long, in general, does it take for the NIE to be issued?
Is it necessary to have a permanent address when applying?
Will some language schools hire teachers without the NIE?
Any advice would be appreciated. |

Until you get our NIE they can use your passport number for tax purposes so don't worry. Also, the NIE can take months to come. |

And the system is backed up completely.
For me to renew my NIE, I am here on a student visa, I was one of the lucky ones to get an appointment. Now, no more appointments are being given out and everything is done by certified mail now.

Many thanks for the responses.
Is it possible to apply for a social security number without a NIE? |

Yes it is. Well, I can speak for my case. I applied for my social security number with just my passport, but this was back in 2008. Not sure if things have changed. I say give it a go and see what happens.

One importatnt thing; When you go through the N.I.E. process, make sure you join the E.U. queue, or you'll have a 29 day wait with the "Mexicans", jajaja! |
