I have sent all my paperwork away to process for a visa. I will be working at an international school, and they said that they will do all the visa stuff for me. However, I haven't had a word from them for 2 weeks. Should I be worried? |

I'm not sure who you mean by "they," but it takes about 10 business days for your employer to request and obtain authorization for the visa at their end. However, if that's already been done and your passport and required documents are currently at the Saudi consulate for processing, then it could take from 1-3 weeks before your passport (with visa) is returned to you. If you used a visa agent, then by all means, contact them for status. |

Nationality?
Are you Canadian?
45 days minimum in Canada or any other Saudi embassy around the gulf states and maybe more.

What I was told was to send my Passport, degree and PGCE to the school as a scanned attachment by e-mail. I did this 2 weeks ago. The school HR said that they needed this for them to process the visa application in Saudi. |

You haven't applied for your visa yet. Check the saudi embassy website for visa application info. The school must initiate the process on their end (which is probably what you're waiting for now) and then you'll apply directly to the embassy. |

The only institution I know of in the kingdom that processes visas and igamas promptly is JEC-PT in Jizan. As the threads about JEC-PT point out, working there is rarely happy.
All of the other institutions I know are incapable of getting one piece of paper from one desk to the next in an office in less than ten days. If the paper must go to another office in the same building, add a week.
The above remarks applies to institutions who are actually trying to provide the service you need. The institutions who are looking for ways to steal from you sometime do the initial paper work quickly. They are planning on stealing your money on the back end.
The whole process has gotten more chaotic, inefficient, and unreliable since my first job in the kingdom fifteen years ago. |

I received a job offer with a 'reputable' recruitment company back in dec and I'm still waiting for them to apply for my visa through the embassy. At the time of the interview I was informed that I would be in Saudi within 2 weeks. I recently received an email from the company stating that they're gearing me up for the next semester in September (as if to suggest that I have been patiently waiting to commence in September) please don't believe everything you're told via these lousy incompetent employers, do your own research and always ask around! |

I was living in Europe in January.
On January 10th, a major university offered me a direct hire. Rather than fly back to the USA, they suggested that I have my visa processed in a Eurpean capital rather than in Washington.
On Febrruary 29 the documents arrived via Fedex. The next morning I flew to the other European capital and went direct to the visa service that the employer suggested.
When the visa service examined the documents for the the major Saudi university they found that both the visa forms and the contract forms were addressed to the Saudi Embassy in Washington.
I immediately contacted the major Saudi University and they said that they would fix everything.
On April 11, the new documents arrived from the major Saudi university. I brought them to the visa service.
The contract documents had be changed correct.
The visa package was made up of three pages in Arabic. Page 1 and page 3 had been correctly changed. Page 2 had not been changed. Impossible to obtain visa until page 2 is changed.
The major Saudi university has not responded to phone calls and emails. |

Yes, I did an interview in January that said I would be there soonish. They've now casually told me that will be September. |

The major Saudi Unversity said they were working on fixing the last page I need on 14 April.
I followed up with a list of all the phone number of visa service so that they could coordinaten.
Today I skyped them and they said they needed phone number of visa service. I reminded them of email - which they found. |
