Anyone else like me out there? When changing countries/regions of the world did you find not having paper qualifications a hindrance, or was your experience enough to overcome that?
Thanks in advance! |

No problem except Indonesia. You HAVE to have it there, no matter what else you have or don't have. |

Where do you want to work, and in what type of institution? Plus, what experience and qualifications do you have? |

I had to have a CELTA for Vietnam, but maybe that's because my employer was c course provider. If I didn't have it they would probably have made me do it with them! I remember getting job offers in Poland and Turkey (which I didn't take) before I did it. |

In my experience having experience was something I could use to get better pay in Korea. I used the Internet though.
In Vietnam I found not having experience in VN was often cited to offer me a lower pay. Now that I have it, I get offers in a better pay range. One year was sufficient.
On Saturn I found that simply having experience on earth and the willingness to go there was sufficient to command a better pay.
Unintelligible accents, the silliest lisps, bizarre facial tics, none of this matters on Saturn. Just show up. |

Why don't you just do some training? It's not like a CELTA takes all THAT long (if it's about money, then look into going to Korea, or maybe coming back to Japan... maybe).
Start doing a distance masters at a reputable university just doing two units (half courses / modules) at a time. Just by being able to put that you are currently doing a masters in TESOL or Applied Linguistics on your resume, you'll solve most of your "no paper" problems. |

Very good advice. If you have had that much experience, you should know where to get the training, too. |
