In China I mean. My possible next school just e-mailed me the forms and said I should go to a Provincial "border quarantine " center and get the medical done--it will make things easier to change my visa.

I'm not sure if the poor girl knows what she is doing. My green book is valid until Sept. but I will be changing provinces...Plan was to get a student visa for the summer and change it to a Z in Sept. I'm not sure which the medical is fo. Anyway shouldn't we worry about all this after I arrive. It was never any trouble before...Wondering if this is just a way to save THEM a bit of trouble.

So if I do it---has anyone paid for one here??? Confused God it sounds easier to leave the country and just come back and start over...This provincial stuff makes it more of a headache...Thanks...

I paid 125RMB for a partial exam (blood test) in Jiangxi and 325RMB in Shandong (complete exam).

Good luck

I never paid for it with my own funds, and if I had to pay I was refunded it afterwards.

The cost can vary enormously, as do the items covered by it. The absolute minimum is a HIV test. Most times they do a cursory checkup of your mechanics as well - body size, weight, motility, sensitivity, vision, an X-ray.

The lowest price quoted was RMB 158; the highest came to close to RMB 400.

My very complete physical, including chest exray, EKG, and various laboratory tests, performed at a government clinic expressly established for the purpose, was 200 yuan.

An update for anyone interested---I am now told the medical is only needed if new visa is for 6 months or longer...That is if you are already in PRC. As usual confusion reigns.

Speaking of rain lets see if anything is open in this monsoon. Wink
