That�s what it all comes down to. I�d recommend compiling a list of possible schools, try to make contact with them just before coming to Mexico, and then start knocking on doors once you�re here. Once you have a job to start, an apartment very well might fall into place. Things come together... or they don�t and you move on. You�ll be fine. |

I took that approach when going to Asia and found the devil is in the details. Those details spelled a different story than what I often heard. That is why I researched this more thoroughly. I want to really know what to expect.
Consequently, I think I have a much clearer picture of Mexico, living there, and teaching there - pro and con - than I did when I packed my bags, sold my stuff and headed Asia way.
and I do appreciate all the info people have given me. |

| It's always a good idea to find out as much as you can before moving to a new country, but you should keep in mind that things never turn out quite as you had imagined them to be. Kind of like a blind date arranged by a mutual acquaintance. You can ask all the questions you want about what he or she is like, but the reality is always a bit different from the image you had created in your head. |

True. If I didn't know that by now in life I would not have learned much. However, before I book a plane flight, I want to know how much it costs, its schedule and what the airline is like. Even with knowing all that the flight could still be delayed, canceled or get hijacked. |

Might be the difference between making it or not here in Mexico. I wanted it bad enough and knew I'd make it work regardless, and I have.
Therefore my only concern was that the nose of the plane was pointed in the right direction.

Personally I think the devil is in you (what you make of the details). To be sucessful in Latin America you have to be a roll with the punches type of person. And you also have to accept the fact that there are multiple truths and simultaneous realities.
The answer to every question in Mexico is that depends. |

When you get here, take a deep breath, soak in the glorious sunshine, and don't expect your phone calls and emails to be answered right away, if at all. If you are patient and persistent and keep a smile on your face, things should work out just fine in the end! |
