At long last. It's really too bad I won't be there. I've left the great state of Qatar.

This was a good conference but hardly any teachers - maybe only about 300. Really too bad.

A shame there were so few teachers. But a conference on working days???? How dumb!! These TESOL guys should have known better!

What possessed the TESOL people to hold a conference on working days???? Natch this would limit the number of people who would be able to attend!!

I was told that CNAQ even arranged for substitute teachers so its teachers could attend the conference on Sunday and Monday. Apparently QU foundation and other venerable establishments couldn't be bothered to give their teachers release time to attend this 'first time ever event'. How unsupportive can you get????? I also heard it was very badly advertized so not enough people heard about it. And it cost way too much - considering that the venue was free!! I was driven past the new convention center where it was held. Pretty amazing. The last time I saw this place, it was under construction. Next door to a new 5-star teaching hospital. The people who work at Ed City really get a lot of goodies.

I came for this event and it wasn't too bad. This is the second one I have attended and was much cheaper than TESOLArabia, only 100 QR. Much shorter, however as it was only 1.5 days. Learner Motivation was the theme and most of us are desperate to get those learners motivated.

No, this is not a big event and since there are very few places here that recruit ESL teachers, it's not worth anybody's while apart from QU maybe. There were about 350 people there on Day 1 and maybe 250 on day 2. Bad timing. February might be better.
