Hi,
I'm flying from Beijing to Hanoi in July to look for work and I'd like to know if after I find a job will I have to leave Vietnam and return after a few days to validate the work visa, or will the visa be issued if I stay in the country ?
Are either of these instances common in Vietnam ?
I've read that one doesn't need to leave the country but if it's frequently done I'll get the multiple entry visa.
Thanks. |

Not usually necessary to leave to get a work permit. But it takes months to get one of these.
You'll need some kind of business visa to stay longterm. Some people are needing to leave and apply for these in Laos or Cambodia. Others are managing to get them without leaving.
The situation seems to change every few weeks with no clear picture emerging.
I think you can come in on a tourist visa for 30 days - get an extension or business visa through a travel agent and see how it goes.
It's not as easy as it used to be - but still doable.
If you have a degree, TEFL cert of some sort and a criminal record check ready and all 'notorised' then it should be straightforward. |
