The school is American School, A.I.E.S. in Nagoya.

I read a scathing review from 2006, but I can't seem to find anything else about them. I'm thinking about applying for an open position, but as this is my first time teaching in Japan I don't want to make a selection that I will regret.

My other prospects are in much more rural communities, so I'd prefer to be in Nagoya. I speak Japanese, so I'm not concerned about getting around a rural community, but those positions require the use of a car, which I am not keen about.

Anyone's opinion on this institution would be greatly appreciated!

If we are talking about the same school, I interviewed with them a few years ago.

Red flags:
-The head teacher had only been there for 1.5 years
-Every other teacher had been there less than a year
-The Japanese manager told that he had trouble keeping teachers and they kept quitting suddenly
-We talked about a mid-March start and they suddenly switched it to a mid-February start. This was in January and I was still in the US.
-They seem to be always hiring. (Note: this is not always a red flag.)

Thank you for the information! I will be careful to request information about their current teachers if I do end up sending them my resume.
