| OP, there are different kinds of "international schools". Just like unis in China, there are 1st, 2nd, 3rd and so on tiers. Some here say that the first tier ones are nearly impossible for you. That might be true, but your qualifications are certainly favorable for the 2nd tier and below. Many of these schools are better than a typical language mill job by far, and they offer a much higher salary and comparable vacation/holidays to uni jobs. Just a thought. |

What do "tiers" mean?
As far as salary, I just accepted my first job in China (I had been working in Korea).
University, 6000. 16 hours a week, plus perks.
My friend, who tells me that salary is very low, makes excatly twice that.
But she works almost double the hours, and has quite a lot of stress.
The job I have sounds very good, and the contract seems fair. All I can di is hope. |

Yeah, I think its super cheap here! I went to a genuine Indian restaurant last night and had a chicken tikka masala, poppadoms, naan breads and beer for 50 kuai. Im not sure there are many places in China that offer that kind of food at that kind of price.
My room mate recently went to Hong Kong for a visa run, and because he had overstayed his visa, had to stay in HK for 4 days. He said he couldnt wait to get back to YS because he missed the foreign food here! |
