Depends on what you want in life. your uni salary is high compared to many uni contracts I've seen. Plenty of money and you can easily save half your salary (no expat bars please but I doubt they will have those there), I tend to go on many long bike rides for cheap entertainment and a nice way to see the sights. Also a good way to hang out with Chinese and not have to give an English lesson the entire time. Talking while biking is minimal. I love this life, but it isn't for everyone.
If you seek money and have the stamina to bust your arse for it... Then Wall Street is your baby! In a major city that money can go pretty fast.

If he wants money, there are far better opportunities that WSE. Like snagging that Uni gig and picking up extras. He can likely match or exceed his previous salary in a short time. |

| Yep, I've saved a great deal of money, because there isn't time to spend it! You only get 10 days annual leave and they don't like you using all of it in one go. Also you don't get the usual public holidays ie. if May is a 3 day holiday you only get 1, Spring Fest, 3 days only etc. |

That's a pretty intense workload. The pay doesn't sound that good, either. Some of my students say that Wall Street charges something like 30,000 RMB a year. I can't imagine that it could be that much. If so, they sure aren't paying the teachers enough.
I work at Web, and I have 5 classes a day. I can't imagine tacking on an extra class. No thanks! |

True, a uni gig plus privates could net you more cash, but how much running around would you have to do? How consistent would your pay be from month to month? One good thing about WSE is the overtime is at 200%, so if you want to earn more, you get something like 1500 RMB for 6 classes of overtime.

Is this in a specific city?
I was talking to one guy who had previously worked at Web and he said the pay was 9000 a month, with no housing for 25 hours of teaching + 15 hours of BS, woops, I mean office hours. What's more he had to pay for the invitation letter and work permit (around 3000), though he got it refunded after passing probabtion. |

Then, for comparison's sake, Wall STreet's pay:
16,000 a month, no housing allowance
1500 quarterly bonus if your center meets targets (mine usually does)
another 1500 quarterly bonus if you attend 2 training sessions (1 for 1 hour, 1 for 2 hours)
meal allowance of 250 a month (lol)
there is free health insurance, but as of 2012 i understand everyone has to pay into the government health insurance.
so, like i said, pretty comparable. more teaching hours (30) for a bit more pay. |

The teaching/office hour ratio is the same with all Webs, but the rest can vary a lot between branches. I first worked for a provincial Web where the pay was 7500 with only 800 housing allowance. In Shanghai, it is 10,000 (after probation) and 4000 housing. In a city like that, getting a substantial housing allowance makes a big difference. |

I had been considering applying to Wall Street, but uniforms? I don't think I could deal with that. Maybe if they offset it with an indignity bonus.  |

Yeah, I should have mentioned that - Shanghai, or Shangers to some.
I've heard that some of the Webs up in northern China have the teachers, get this, doing two social clubs per day. |
