My husband and I have been offered jobs. Because we are from different countries, it has been suggested that my husband do all the medicals, and checks back home, and then sponsor me to come into SA under his visa, and I would work at the same institution. Is this a legal means for me to work? Is this a shady business practice (this institution pops up a number of warning signs, but primarily under one poster)?

Thanks.

Nevermind....the institution got back to me and said this is no longer legal and I will have to do my own. Thought I would answer in case anyone else comes up with this question. Very Happy

Dear baqua8,

Just saw your posts. To the best of my knowledge, it has never been legal - unless you came over on a spousal visa and then were employed as a "local hire" (with a lower salary and no benefits.)

All the best.

Regards,
John

My recollection is that this has, as Johnslat says, never been legal. I worked for the Airline 1996-2002 and my then wife got a job offer as a teacher. She did so illegaly as was the practrce. One school in particlular had all its teachers recruited in this way ! (Bangladesh International School). On occasion the Ministry of Labour would attempt to enforce the rules and insit that tghese schools hirwed Saudis.
