Is there such a thing as a 'hiring season' in Vietnam? I mean a peak time of year when new teachers are recruited. I should mention, I would only want temporary assignments of a few months, not annual contracts.Is that possible? When is the best time to apply? And are the smaller cities a possibility?

From what I understand there is no 'hiring season'. Some places are always hiring - make of that what you will.

Others just hire whenever they need someone - which could be at any time. A lot of people get fed up suddenly and quit. Others are let go or pushed out by low hours and need to be replaced when the workload increases.

There is a slow season in the run up to Tet - say December - February with work picking up again around mid - March. But there are no hard and fast rules here.

If someone is doing better than you, they always tell you right now is the "vacation" or time of year when it is the low season. I have heard it this year six times: last December around Christmas, during Tet, long after Tet, till March April, and now in Summer vacation. When actually the last hiring season was three years ago.

Hiring season is generally the season that runs counter to the other posters suggestions. Who mainly list their idea of when hiring season is as a means of putting you off applying for the same position as they are.

Actually what I meant to say was that there is no real hiring season per se. Just come along to Vietnam but make sure you have between $2-5000 at least in emergency funds.
