Teachers should be cautious of this company. I applied for 2 weeks summer teaching in the UK 20th May, application forms coming out late for a course to start 12 July. I recieved a response from the co-ordinator once my details were recieved "all is well, can't wait to discuss details." I had to push for a discussion in the last week of June, which I had.
What I don't like about this is-
1) I feel I was lead to believe the job was mine. Surely an unqualified person (a non -teacher, by admission) was not assuring me of my credentials after 20 years of EFL teaching. It could only read that the job was mine. 2) You have to chase this company for everything - they are so slow. I distinctly said at the meeting (once told that 'no' I didn't have it' for sure) I would be notified either way, but no courtesy there. I left my Hungarian previous job early by 2 weeks to have the meeting and job, resulting in 2 weeks loss of earnings. 3) Job applications are sent to the local organser in the respective town who are employees of LEC. How would you know that head office ever recieved your application? LEC head office operates this procedure so what can it say about them if unqualified people are left to the recruitment of teachng staff?
I also discovered that LEC are very eager at poaching family hosts from other language schools and I now wish that I had taken the advice on this company from a referee. |
