I passed the interview and written test for the position of Hong Kong NET in March and as yet have not heard from any school. Is this usual? Is it time to panic? Any other prospective NETs in the same position? Is there any point in ringing the EMB? I realise that all the schools are autonomous in their hiring and firing. Can anyone tell me just how this stage of the selection process works?
Thanks for any info. |

Not quite Freddy...
The job at my school has not been filled. So there is at least one. And to my knowledge...getting a new NET doesn't even enter into most prinicpals minds to after the end of exams.
I didn't get my appointment letter until the middle of July and was told to start work in the middle of August. Couldn't make it as the ED also had me change the name on my passport so it matched my degrees...I don't use my full name on my passport...at least, I didn't. |

No, do not giveith up thy hope. There will always be 1 or 2 lucrative $100,000 US jobs in HK (for the lucky few) |

I didn't hear anything last year until June. I'm reasonably certain that all positions haven't been filled. Yes, ring EMB-be pro-active. I was and I got a NET position which I am enjoying.Good luck! |

My NET job also arrived shortly after I (finally, after six or seven attempts) got through to the right person. It was near the end of July that I had my first contact from the school I'm at now. Two years ago, it was Phoebe Mok (her position was recruiting officer for NET, or ronet in her email address) that was the heavy hitter you needed to approach.
Good luck, and ignore FU. |

Can anyone tell me, is it still possible to be offered a post without having every little bit of paper that the EMB have asked for? Will they offer jobs on the basis that you will get (or maybe not) the rest of the paper later? I am still having problems getting everything they want to their exact specifications. I have contacted the EMB but they just give me the list of things I still have to provide. Is it time to withdraw gracefully and retain some sanity? Or maybe leave it till next year. That's another thing, I made my original application in 2003, does it expire after a certain period of time, requiring me to come for another interview etc? Advice gratefully received. |

I know that it was possible.
I got a letter asking for some sort of paperwork...at which point I almost lost it...and then as I was fuming about fulfilling this last request....the next day I got an appointment letter...
funny thing...i started to fume some more as i initially thought that it meant that i had to do another interview until my father pointed out that it meant that i had gotten the job...
so never give up hope...this is the EMB we are talking about... |
