Have your schools had any such foreign teachers? If so, how are your schools dealing with it? My school's administration is pretty uptight and students somewhat amused.

We've got all the teachers they expected, as far as I can tell. No shows seems pretty common- stuff happens. I haven't been in a school in China where anyone's pulled a runner.

I THINK we've got a no-show here, but our new term doesn't begin until the 10th.

Only two of us FT's at my college, and we are both here.

I worked at one college in Jiangsu a few years ago that had
3 FT's do midnight runs in one term.

I've seen runners and no-shows and really dam late. Last term I worked at a school that was supposed to have 2 foreign English teachers, but the Filipino teacher was delayed the whole first term. I ended up doing double duty and made a nice chunk of coin.

I don't know why a school with 15+ teachers can't offer the existing teachers a chance to pick up some extra money with reasonable overtime pay. The school wins and the teacher wins, but I hardly see that happen.

One teacher for too many classes may cause a scheduling conflict, if students have more subjects with foreign and local teachers. In my case, since one FT took a midnight run, I've got a workload of one and a half teacher now. The school wanted to dump all the classes on me, but they couldn't rearrange the schedule to put a full double duty.
