Hi all,
If your company is providing routers for wireless internet to teachers in their living space ie;compound etc. ....If the signal is very bad or not consistent, I'm assuming teachers get these dongles with so much amount of Gb. like Mobily or through STC. You attach this to your laptop like a USB device. And you are paying so much per month. I've seen teachers use these in the past.
But what if you want to make the bad signal much stronger but without using this dongle through Mobily (which costs you monthly) and you instead attach a wireless booster you can bring with you to Saudi. Say you have 1 or 2 routers placed in between 3-6 apartments which you share, would a wireless booster make your individual laptop have a higher speed on the wireless router......at least that is what they are supposed to do .....to make your signal stronger and have faster connections when surfing. Would a booster pin the signal and do worse and conflict with the routers set up by STC 0r Mobily?
Other than going and getting the dongle how can one in Jubail living in an apartment complex with a bunch of other teachers, get the best connection and speed?
Perhaps I am wasting my time here and find out that the connection is already quite good in Jubail. But my experience in KSA wireless was that it was 50mps .....basically crap. but I was living in a small town away from any major city.
McGill has teachers living in one apartment complex in Jubail. What is the connection like there and can you use a wireless booster effectively? Is it better than 50mps speed ......(which is the norm with the router i found.)
I am trying to avoid getting the dongle and just strengthening my signal.
Is there some device out there to buy that is international and could apply to internet usage in KSA. Like a recommended name which works best for this over there? I am also referring to the usage only in the living space not at work.
Free wifi is nice through the company and I will accept what they offer but expect the signal to be slow, hence my above queries.
I do not claim to be an expert in this wifi stuff and would appreciate any advice. |

A strategically placed booster (or you may also want to consider a repeater) will increase the range of a network broadcast by a router/access point. It will NOT, however, increase the speed of the connection. That depends on the package you sign up for and, of course, the speed actually delivered. |
