I'll look out for Prometheus on DVD .. I think its released soon and I might buy it. (Currently back in the UK).
@ Gemini - Its true ... I dont see the smoking and to be honest, I think kev's post supports that. People smelling of smoking isnt the same as people smoking. The smell of someone who has had a smoke in a WC at school is the norm Id say, finishing a cigarette and getting on a bus is too ... Sometimes people make it sound like everyone smokes everywhere.
I cant really comment on taxi's as Ive never really lived in a place where Ive needed them. Ditto for elevators, I have never lived in an apartment block that has elevators, but when Ive visited rooftop bars / hotels that have elevators, people dont smoke in them.
People who smoke will be surprised by how many places you cant smoke. Threads dont accurately reflect that IMHO. As I said earlier, I have only been to the cinema once in China, and it was quite full but no-one smoked in there. Walking out people light up at the exit to the street so a single waft might be on the premises before they exit but thats all. Just my experience of course. |

I'm a person that likes to enjoy a film in total silence. Even when I watch them at home the mobile gets turned off and nothing can interrupt me. I went to a film shown at the university where I work and couldn't get on with it, mobiles ringing, people talking, just not the right atmosphere in my opinion.
With regards to smoking, where I am people smoke wherever and whenever. I've just come back from town on a bus and a youth was smoking right under the 'No Smoking' sign. I just stuck my head out of the window (slightly less polluted I hope). |
