PMU is short of ESL teachers for both male and female English prep program, but be warned before you all rush to apply - there are a few reasons why it might be wise to go elsewhere.
For a start, the salaries are now so low that they can only attract desperados. More importantly, the living accommodation in their main Bilad compound is becoming unbearable. Turning on the faucet each day to have a shower in the morning or evening is no longer a guarantee that water will actually flow! Day after day, there are either power outages or (almost daily) no water. It is truly third world when water is brought in by tankers because they aren't even on the main city supply.
Teachers are now leaving without exit visas, just to get away.
Stories of salaries being paid weeks late for those teaching during the summer, or vacation pay (they say they pay sixty days summer vacation) being paid weeks AFTER the summer break, resulted in many teachers finding themselves in financial difficulties.
Working in Saudi used to pay a hefty premium for living in the "special conditions" of this society, but not any more.
Salaries in the rest of the Gulf are now as good, and who wants to put up with the conditions in KSA if you can earn the same in a civilized country?

The conditions you describe aren't relevant to all Saudi prep year programs. Just because one place is crappy doesn't mean they're all lousy. Some of us are doing just fine in our teaching and living situations here in the Kingdom.

Not the case. Some are tolerable. Others are dire.

How can teachers leave without an "exit visa" - unless they have illegal visit/business visas to start with...

Umm, those "multiple re-entry" thingies are called "exit/re-entry visas."

It is more common now for those on Iqamas (ie legally working in KSA) to have a multiple exit/re-entry visa. That is one imptovement on the days when you could only get a single exit/re-entry - and then only after pleading with your employer.
