I have been offered a job for next semester at Harbin Institute of Technology and know that it has a good reputation in China, but I have not heard anything from the staff that works there or has worked there.
If anyone has any information on this school, please let me know. I am very familiar with the city and the environs, just not te actually place of work.
Thanks in advance for your help. |

I was actually a student at HIT for their Chinese program and tutored a number of the Chinese students in English. It's a great school, although some of the classes are a bit ancient (that I remember, the English classrooms were better than the science ones, but not by much!). The students are all hard-working, but highly competative. The school has everything you could want (although their cafeterias aren't all that great, although I remember the largest one being the best) and there are shops, banks, post offices, and restaurants all along the periphery. I'm rather jealous. |

No, but I used to do kung-fu with a guy who did. He had a PhD in philosophy, so he was doing courses in Philosophy for post-grads, so his experiences on the teaching side (which were good) probably aren't relevant. However, he rated the accommodation highly - it was new when he moved in, which would have been 2002ish, and he always seemed to be well treated - paid on time, etc . . .
Harbin stuff
Good luck - I really liked Harbin.
