I'm not sure if you'd describe it as "stunning" but it certainly caught your eye. I had a student recently who wore bright pinks, oranges, yellows and other garish colours every single day. Along with this she wore bright shades of lipstick e.g. orange, shocking pink, scarlet and had her hair dyed a kind of straw blonde. As if this wasn't enough, all her stuff was garish too like her notebook etc. HEadway Pre-Int textbook, being orange, was right up her street.
She also occasionally turned up with garishly coloured boxes from Dunkin' Donuts and that was certainly a sight for sore eyes |

Nolefan, is it really possible to 'promptly change a phone number' in the People's Republic of China???
Just curious. |
usually not but I live on campus... all they had to do was reroute that line elsewhere and assign me a new number |

It's not like they rub my tummy for hours (or even minutes). And it's not like I stand there and say, "hey! would you mind rubbing my tummy for a moment?" I think sometimes they just can't help themselves. It's there and they walk by and a quick pat or rub and they smile sheepishly. I think it's harmless. Maybe they think I'm like Buddha and they are rubbing for good fortune! |

Dear kev7161,
But how do you ever stomach it? Could I get a belly-laugh, please?
Regards,
John |

I think that the question of ethics is very job specific - or maybe location specific. While I was teaching at a PLS in Mexico, 90% of the students were well into their adult years. It is quite common, and NOT considered unethical for a "student" to hit on a teacher or vice-versa outside of class.
It is just 2 adults doing what they do.
As for the original post - There are some incredibly "hot" senioritas in Mexico. |

Though he wasn't stunning in the sense conveyed by the OP, one Japanese university student comes to mind. His hair was blond and his eyes, on closer inspection, didn't seem natural either - they were blue.
In our first class his neighbour, who was introducing him, mentioned he liked dancing. I asked Blue Eyes for a demonstration so he promptly hopped up on the table and did a few slick moves including, from memory, a handstand.
He was one of those kids you might see practising in front of the mirror of a store window late at night. (Such a scene in Japan has rather more innocence than it would back home.) He had a video on his mobile phone of a performance at Shin-Yokohama station featuring 'The Helicopter' in which he produced an impressive sequence of headspins.
Blue Eyes wore a hard hat when he did headspins - he wasn't stupid, far from it. He had a lot more sense than most of his classmates. |

Stunningly attractive students? Uh, I worked in Thailand. At the Rajabhat I worked at the student body (what a set-up line) was overwhelmingly female and it seemed most of these nice young women (most of them exceedingly polite) were stunners. Not studious nor too ambitious, but high academic achievement is a kind of attatchment and that wouldn't be too Buddhist, now would it?
Back in '92 whilst living in Seoul I had a rather disturbing realization. It seems that females that look stunning, y'know -- perfect smooth ebony hair, impeccable make-up, classy clothes, well, when they get married they undergo this freaky physical change. They go all short and boxy and their hair gets to be this hair-sprayed curly helmut. Wierd. |

I noticed that too during my short trip to visit a friend in Korea.
He calls it the GUF (guaranteed ugliness factor). I think it's when they hit 35 or so (often younger) the perm comes out, the clothes change... |

I find Turkish men hot and some of my male students (18 and over, of course) are so sexy and 'beautiful' I cant take my eyes off them. Their disadvantage is that they are so naiive and inexperienced I wouldn't touch any of them with a barge pole. But Turkish men in their 30's? well...... |

A friend of my sister-in-laws worked for the Social Services dealing with under-aged asylum seekers.
One of her clients was an young Albanian, maybe nineteen or twenty but he claimed he was a seventeen year-old orphan so he wouldn't get deported. And he looked the real Latino lover part.
Anyway for some reason, although a Muslim, he had never been circumcized, and God knows who persuaded him that this would be a grave setback to his cultural assimilation in the UK, so he mentioned this to the Social Services and they agreed to pay for the operation.
So the day of the operation the social worker met this young Lothario, wearing the latest pecs-hugging T-shirt and skin tight jeans and drove him off to the clinic an hour's drive away. What made it even worse was that after the operation he felt really sore, and of course tight jeans are the most practical things to be wearing in that situation, so all the way back he was sitting on the front seat with his flies open and jeans unbutttoned at the top.
She insisted she managed to keep her eyes on the road. |

| In Poland you can be sure you'll have several stunners in each adult class.I remember my British Council boss,an M.A. qualified teacher trainer etc, breaking into fluent spanish,(he was the interlocutor), in a real C.A.E. exam because the stunning polish student mentioned she could speak the said language. On the other hand,it cuts both ways.A colleague of mine had a student that used to do a Sharon Stone on him like in'Basic Instinct',(some guys have all the luck). In general being in close proximity to people over prolonged periods of time yields all sorts of strange things.I remember monitoring some students once and as this Emirati lady lent forward,I couldn't help noticing all the hair on the small of her back bursting out of the top of her jeans as her sweater hitched up...horrified I moved onto the next group....scarred for life. |
