Don't forget to confirm whether this is permissible with your insurance provider. If your friend wrecks it, you don't want to be stuck with the bill because the insurance company only pays if you are driving. Also check on your liability if the accident causes a death. Which one of you goes to jail until diya is paid?

I don't think so. Ask the Saudi in your employer's office who is responsible for liasing with Govr Depts. The "fixer" who does Igamas etc.

Your employer has nothing to do with your car, the police or with the auto insurance. (assuming the car is under your name)

As already mentioned, your insurance will only cover you in case of an accident.

I believe it is theoretically possible to get this done, as I vaguely remember someone talking about it some years ago, but it definitely involved getting something from the traffic police.

Either do it properly (and you will have to figure out the procedure), or don't do it at all, as the potential consequences can be life-altering.

People who are risk-averse do not drive in KSA. This is only for the suicidal. Minimise the time you spend in or near moving motor cars !
