Hello,
I am looking into teaching in Dubai, and wanted to ask all the nice folks here for some guidelines and possibly help.
I have a CELTA, associate's degree in early childohood eduaction, bachelor's in primary school education, and I am not a native teacher, although I have worked in USA companies for about 5 years, one of which was working with kids aged 3-11 (not teaching English though).
Any thoughts? Any help or a nudge in the right direction is appreciated.
Thank you all ! |

A few questions...
1. What passport do you hold?
2. Which country did you obtain your degree from?
3. Do you hold a license for teaching at the primary level?
4. You say you worked in USA "companies." What exactly did that entail? |

1. Serbian passport
2. Degrees in Serbia, CELTA in New York
3. Yes
4. I worked in Royal Caribbean as a youth staff, that's like a camp type experience for children ages 3-17.
Thanks for reply! |

I assume that your license is for teaching in Serbia. And,.. you have no teaching experience?
I'm not sure how that would be accepted in Dubai.
What do you think Nomad?
It looks like a tough sell to me and I fear only the more abusive employers would make an offer.

I agree; I don't think you'll get much in terms of decent offers, if any at all. Do you have any experience teaching at the primary school level? TEFL experience? The TEFL market in the Emirates is competitive; as a non-native speaker, you'd need to have solid experience if you're looking to teach EFL. |
