| Does anybody know if a private institute or freelance language instructor in the U.S. is required to ask the immigration status of prospective students? And is it legal for a foreigner with only a travel or business visa (and not a student visa) to study with such an institute or freelancer, especially if no diploma or certificate is offered but only instruction? Thanks. |

I've worked at several language schools in New York City. Many of my students were on tourists visas and even more were here illegally. Schools will only ask if you have need an F-1 visa, then they can sell you one for profit. Or if you already have an F-1 Visa, they'll need to tell them , so the visa can transfer and you get the mandaotry 18 hrs/week.
Schools don't care if you are illegal or on a tourist visa. |
