BAE Systems has completed the partial sale of its shares in Saudi Development and Training Company Limited (SDT) to Riyadh Wings Aviation Academy LLC, a press release announced Thursday.
Jim McDowell, Managing Director BAE Systems Saudi Arabia, said: SDT has supported the development and training of BAE Systems Saudi Arabia, customer and partner employees over the last 18 years. The joint ownership of SDT will support our objective to expand the business, addressing a wider customer community and generating enhanced in-Kingdom employment opportunities.
BAE Systems Saudi Arabias ongoing investments and support to partner companies in the Kingdom, like SDT, is built on a successful track record in industrialization and demonstrates our support to the national agenda, added Jim.
The Management of Riyadh Wings Aviation Academy LLC added: SDT is an established Saudi training organization with a diverse range of training products and services and a respected training management and technical team. SDT has the potential to support other organisations in their Saudisation, training, learning and development activities through the delivery of world class training solutions to meet the needs of customers and partners in the defence and civil sectors in the Kingdom.
SDT was previously a 100% owned BAE Systems subsidiary, based in Riyadh, specialising in English language training and vocational training. |

Scot their job is not unpleasant at all. A lot of backpackers would love to join their likes at BAE.
It's only unpleasant when you do not play golf with the big guys. |

BAE teachers work directly for BAE. So should be no odds for them.
As for SDT teachers, my info over the last few years was that they were acting as a contractor contracting out. Very few people working directly for SDT. These two groups would mix on projects but be isolated from their much better T's & C's etc BAE boys who work on seperate projects.
SDT was always a joint venture between BAE and the Saudis. It was meant to give something back to the Saudis financial and top jobs. Most jobs in SDT that can be have now been Saudiazed.
Teaching less than keen military guys for five hours a dayis not for the faint hearted. But can be done |

Dear scot47,
But not for folks such as us, who were in Saudi only for the social life and the exotic cultural experience.
Regards,
John |

you have just confirmed everything I've heard second hand since I've been in the Dhahran area. I was reluctant to post it because it was unverified. Seems like my sources were accurate and will be trusted again in the future. |
