Not to make light of this terrible situation. It must have been horrible for that little girl. Where was the mother when this was all going on?
On another note..... A little 5 yr old Egyptian boy disappeared from a busy store in Khamis Mushayt and nobody ever heard anything about it again.
Murdering children and stealing young kids..... This place is not as safe as everyone believes. If you have children..... guard them and guard them closley. |

Saudi bloggers have expressed anger and outrage at the lenient sentence for Al Ghamdi, who was found guilty of torturing his daughter Luma to death when she visited him and his new wife at their home.
Luma lived with her divorced mother and was allowed to visit her father even though he reportedly did not seem to care about her.
According to the woman, her ex-husband, appeared to be a gentle and reformed man after spending years of his life as a drug addict before they got married. However, following the marriage, he turned into a violent man who often often beat her, forcing her to file for divorce, she told Saudi media. |

Oh, really?? On the contrary, he's a prominent Moslem preacher who regularly appeared on T.V.
And so is the judge who passed the "sentence."
These "people" are very much mainstream in Saudi, sorry to have to tell you. |

Dear mashkif,
So, are you saying that nasty little druggies are representative of mainstream Saudis?
While I agree that there are some nasty Saudis, some little Saudis, and some Saudis who are druggies, I'd say that the sum total of all such wouldn't constitute "the mainstream."
Regards,
John |

| Children seem to be valued very differently here in comparison to the west. You can see parents pampering, indulging, and showing them off like adorable little dolls. You can't help but smile at them. They are irresistably cute. Unfortunately, a lot of them die unnecessarily because they are indulged in ways that are dangerous. They aren't required to wear car seats, and sometimes you can see them with their little bodies popping out of sunroofs and car windows waving flags for soccer teams and whatnot while Saudi drivers are not careful. There are lots of accidents and lots of tragic funerals where grieving mothers are told "don't worry, you can have another one" and other insensitive nonsense. If Saudi fathers continued to dote o their children as they do and were more concerned about child safety, this might be a good place to be a child...especially if one were a boy. As one young girl that I knew here said "it's not fair, boys get everything!" |
