My response to articles like this is... duh... so what else is new?
AUS tries to push the envelope and often fails. The great political game goes on... EFL teachers are more likely to keep their job if they stick to teaching English and stay out of local politics.

Huh? I'd say that it is very clear what was meant and that was NOT its meaning.
As someone who has taught in the Middle East I would think that you would be aware that one does not discuss local politics in any way... ever... in the classroom or probably in private conversations with locals outside of class.
If one wishes to do so, one should stay in the US or UK or whatever country one came from which allows it.
