Toughcookie hit the nail very much on the head! The many problems and inequalities that the new teachers face are real, yet the management sees the complaints made by new teachers as the problem! Mr. Fixit is besides himself because the complaints made by new teachers just won't cease!
You know you are on Mr. Fixit's black list when the other Fixit avoids eye contact with you. Get in on the Fixit circle by whatever means you can. Make the fixit clan happy and you will succeed. Mr. Fixit polishes! What an amazing man can be heard recited throughout the university! |
No more Mr Fixit, I've heard he was pretty good at fixing things but was shoved out of the way because he was too popular. Pencillead seems to really dislike him. I have been trying to figure out who he is, maybe he's not around because nobody refers to a Mr Fixit. You gotta fix things yourself!!! Nobody gives a s..t. There aren't too many who are ready to help you, not really. The ones who can don't want to. |
In my day there was no Marriott. Where is it? In my day we had the Sheraton and the Sheraton and the Sheraton - plus a few seedy little establishments. No happy hours then. You had to smuggle the stuff in or make your own with a beer kit.
I remember those good old days. When did you leave? The Sheraton has been turned into a Marriott they say. |

fixit got a better job somewhere else in the university. He was one of the good guys and one of the 20 or more teachers who left in July. I was told some quit, some got a transfer and some got fired. I don't know how many quit but 20 departures is at least 16% of the staff. Par for the course. The annual migration. |

What is happening with the job situation here? A lot of confusion judging from what the G.P. is saying. |

Over hiring at all the conferences. Students leaving the foundation program and moving to the Arabic language programs; they need less English. |

So instead of fire2hire they are now doing hire2fire? How can people stay under such conditions. The reason I left QU two decades+ ago is because of the salary. It didn't pay to stay. I wonder does it pay to stay now with such a system? |
